Health Occupations Students of America HOSA terms of future health professionals formerly Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) is an organization where future medical students can compete against each other in various competitions and learn about current health issues in the world today. This is a great way to become more involved in medicine and the field you want to go. It is a national career and technical student organization approved by the US Department of Education and the Division of ACTE education of health sciences and technology. HOSA is composed of high school and college / post. It is headquartered in Southlake, Texas. HOSA is the largest student organization that prepares students to enter the health care field.

Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA)

The mission of the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) is on the delivery of the good, to improve the quality of health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science technology education students, thus helping students to meet the needs of the healthcare community ant to give them better opportunities to develop their career best. Our other mission is to provide opportunities for knowledge, skills and leadership development for students wishing to pursue a medical career.

The Office of Medical Professions Advisement of Health Occupations Students of America offers specialized programs above and beyond our normal range of services to manage the future of students.
Entering freshmen who live on campus should read our pre-Health Living Learning Community.
Students who already have a bachelor’s degree and would like to make a career change in the health professions want to participate in our post baccalaureate program.
Pre-pharmacy students planning to apply to Gatton College of Pharmacy will be interested in the details of our pre-pharmacy Plus program.

1-Pre-Health Living Learning Community (PHLLC)

Pre-Health Living Learning Community (PHLLC)-Why We join it?

The Pre-Health Living Learning Community is a community program of Health Occupations Students of America for our strongest, most committed students pursuing careers in health care, both in medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, dental hygiene, or any other of the many professions health care programs offered by different universities.


The Pre-Health Living Learning Community makes burgeoning health professionals to grow by encouraging personal and intellectual development. The Pre-Health Living Learning Community offers opportunities to develop as a whole person – academically, socially, culturally and professionally – through social gatherings, seminars, tutoring, group registration in selected health discipline prerequisite courses, and residential life with like-minded individuals. The PHLLC also offers special volunteer opportunities and experiences that help students cultivate a set of cultural competencies required to work within the interdisciplinary health care team.

Eligible for joining the The Pre-Health Living Learning Community-PHLLC?

Applications are available for students who enter ETSU as the first time freshmen and enroll in one of the following health professions programs:

1-Therapy prior Allopathic Medicine, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Podiatry, Pre-Respiratory
2-Pre-Audiology, Pre-Nursing, Pre-Pre-Occupational Therapy Speech Therapy
3-Pre-Chiropractic Medicine, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Optometry, Pre-Veterinary Medicine
4-Pre-Clinical Nutrition, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Holistic Medicine Health
5-Pre-Dental Hygiene, Pre-Physician Assistant, Pre-radiography

Some Additional Criteria include:
  • Students must register for and attend Example; subscribe to New Student Orientation ACT score of 22 or SAT score of 1,020 (Critical Reading + Math sections) or above
  • Dual registration GPA of 3.2 or higher, if appropriate
  • Are located in the Lucille Clement Residence Hall
  • High school GPA of 3.2 or higher


2-Pre-Pharmacy Plus Program


Health Occupations Students of America HOSA offers an other program- ETSU together with the Gatton College of Pharmacy (GCOP) offers a guaranteed interview GCOP any ETSU undergraduate or post-baccalaureate students who meet certain established criteria.

The requirements are following:


  • Skip to end up prerequisite courses ETSU
  • 3.0 or higher overall GPA
  • 3.0 or higher GPA BCMP
  • Full-time enrollment ETSU
  • PCAT line composite score of 60 or more with no individual score less than 35.
  • Students must begin the academic undergraduate career ETSU or post-baccalaureate students who have completed all prerequisite coursework at ETSU, except for certain AP or dual-enrollment courses.


3-Post Baccalaureate Program

Health Occupations Students of America HOSA offers an other one of its best programs-

The Post Baccalaureate program is the best career change program available for students who are preparing for the implementation of the health professions programs. This program is designed for students who already have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and non-science must complete prerequisite courses or need to update their academic record. Individuals should assess their academic record (preferably with the help of an intake officer in a vocational school or pre-health advisor) to determine the type of program that will best enhance their powers.
Currently there are no application for the MPA program Baccalaureate program of the Health Occupations Students of America HOSA . Interested students should apply to East Tennessee State University as a “special non-degree seeking” student and to indicate interest in a pre-health field.
